Well-known accessory maker Twelve South has introduced the first-ever USB-C wall chargers with built-in support for Apple's Find My app.
If you ever misplace these chargers, you can simply open the Find My app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac and track the location of them. The chargers do not need to be plugged in to an outlet for Find My functionality to work, as they are powered by a replaceable button-cell battery, just like Apple's AirTag. Twelve South says the battery should last about a year, and the battery's charge level can be monitored in the Find My app.
The chargers are now available to pre-order in two-port 50W and four-port 120W variants, with U.S. pricing set at $69.99 and $119.99, respectively. Twelve South estimates that shipments to customers will begin in mid-September.
Both chargers use a material called gallium nitride (GaN) that allows for a slimmer design, allowing them to fit behind couches and in other tight spaces. The 50W version is ideal for charging small and medium devices like an iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, while the 120W charger is ideal for a MacBook and other larger devices.

If you lose a wall charger in your own house there is something wrong with you
Also the price is ridiculous and if they sell even one to the general public I'll be shocketh

This seems perfect for people who are frequently asked to lend their chargers.

why not just super glue a $5 findmy tracker to a charger you already have?

This is the kind of thing you put in your travel bag. The people who jack your luggage at the airport check for Air Tag. If they see a USB charger, they will just start using it. I hope the have a 220 volt 50 cycle version for Europe.

Prepare to be shocked as one is a pretty low bar.

I’m sorry but why does a device that plugs into a wall need a COIN CELL BATTERY

If someone leaves an accessory like this in your car or bag, or their iPhone or Mac, would your iPhone still notify you like it would if it's an AirTag?

At those prices I’d probably keep my charger(s) in a home safe…

It’s a condition many find themselves afflicted with. It’s called “married”.😂
My wife steals chargers from their designated locations around the house all the time.🤬

We installed outlets with built-in USB ports. Now we have a box of chargers we never use!

Agree.
Although maybe not as sleek, one could easily DIY this kind of product by attaching an AirTag to any kind of charger(if not to the adapter then to the cable. There are lots of options).
That way, you can get FindMy with any charger and you probably save some money too.

This is the problem with GaN, it makes chargers smaller. Then people lose them. Chargers should be getting bigger instead. I have a charger the size of a couch, and I’ve never lost it.
